What a year…what a decade!

From the entire team at Urban Greens Co-op Market, we want to thank you for your support, openness, and knowledge. Working together allows us to provide the best and most fruitful market. It has brought us so much joy to provide an everyday marketplace for cherished local goods and classes, and we can’t wait to bring more to you in the new year.

You’ve joined us for classes on unconventional mushrooms, vegan baking, food as medicine lecture series, the teaching of The Four Agreements. We’ve partnered with small local farms, such as Geek Gardens and Shewatuck Farm and small business pop-ups, like tacos by KRAEV PVD. We’re sourcing Rhode Island raised turkeys from Baffoni’s Poultry farm, grass-fed beef from Cloverbud Ranch, gigantic blue oyster mushrooms from Moonstone Mushroom Co. We are driven to grow our local goods, so if you are a maker or producer, please take the reins and get in touch with our buyers. Speaking of all those farmers, email maggie@urbangreens.com to arrange to compost your food scraps and come to Composting Basics with surprise guest on Monday, January 6th 5:30 – 6:30.

You are showing up for us, and we are here for you. We are here for your loved ones. We are here for your well-being. We have quite the wellness series to benefit everyone in the upcoming year. To start, Rich Streitfeld CPA will be teaching a financial wellness workshop – Tax Planning for Entrepreneurs on Saturday, January 11th 11 – 1 pm. All that focus needs some fuel – so stay in store and enjoy René of KRAEV PVD’s Tortilla Making Workshop from 2 – 3:30. On Jan 22, Dr. Kaz of Rhode Island Association of Naturopathic Physicians is back with Food as Medicine for Heart Health. All proceeds from this series go toward attaining insurance for Naturopathic healthcare. Next up, Shira Hirshberg, Licensed Dietitian and Nutritionist, will be here for an interactive discussion on personal signs of hunger in her Jan 30 workshop Don’t Be Hangry: How Food Impacts Mood and Energy.

January’s just arriving and February will come up fast. Use those resolutions to plan ahead. Sign up for Chronic Illness Management workshop with Isabel, IIN certified health coach and founder of SuperSized Wellness, both in English and Spanish on Sunday, February 2nd. In addition, we’ll host a FREE 6-week course titled Healthy Eating for Successful Living in Older Adults presented by Rhode Island Geriatric Education Center in partnership with Own Your Health Collaborative. It will be held Tuesdays 5:30 – 7:30 from February 11th to March 17th. Participants will have the added benefit of 10% off healthy, ready-to-eat meals from our hot bar, salad and soup bar. Reserve your spot today by clicking the link.

Contact us anytime if you have questions, are interested in attending a class, or if you have a skill to share to teach a class!

Happy 2020!! This is going to be a great new year! See you at the co-op!
