Cityside at Wheeler class trip to The Co-op
Anabelle, Caroline, and Alexis

This April, three classmates from Cityside program at Wheeler School asked us to share their Green Project involving green architecture and sustainability in buildings with our readers.

At the Wheeler School there is a program called Cityside that lets students connect with the community of Providence and work to support initiatives in the city. Students can choose specific topics that they are interested in and do a year long project connecting with community partners and businesses.

“As Cityside students we had to pick a topic to create a project which would benefit the community. Anabelle B. is a gardener who was interested in food, and its connection to sustainability. Alexis E. is very conscious about the environment and how buildings can impact the environment. Caroline S. believes that the next generation, which is us, has to save the earth we live on, since we only get one. The three of us came together to create a booklet, which shows many different Green Architecture buildings around Providence. One great example is Urban Greens, who are willing to spend more for the benefit of the environment and the community.

We have been working on making a booklet highlighting green architecture around Providence that includes your building! We have partnered with Truth Box, an architecture firm that worked on your building and aims to create sustainable designs. Peter Gill Case, the founder of Truth Box, gave us the photos to use for the book. Any information on the building comes from the company website or Truth Box.”

Check out the completed booklet here.

Thank you!
